Nationals

Hello! The contest part of the Bible Bee is now over (for us). None of us made it to semi-finals, but we were excited to have many friends make it! I was a little disappointed that I didn't make it, but the ceremony was so exciting that it was hard to feel really disappointed. We really enjoyed the whole contest (and we were nervous, too)! Sorry about no pictures; we may have some later but I wasn't sure which ones to use. We will probably post sometime today or tomorrow to let y'all know what's going on here. ~Anna

Like Joy said in an earlier post, you can watch semi-finals and finals online today and tomorrow.

Preliminaries

Delie and Anna just left for the Junior preliminaries.   They will be taking a 200 question written test on Bible knowledge and a ten minute oral test where they have to recite twenty of the 175 passages that they have memorized over the past few months.  They are both very excited (and a little nervous).

Even though I don't have to leave until ten, I wanted to jump into the very-excited-pre-bee picture.  We all look forward--sort of--to seeing what the day will be like.

Please keep us in your prayers.  To GOD be all the glory!

Nationals, here we come!

After months of eager waiting--and nervous anticipation--the National Bible Bee is finally here!  Ever since August, when Delie, Anna, and I learned that we qualified for Nationals, I have been looking forward to this weekend.  On Wednesday, our entire family is leaving for Sevierville, TN and the National Bible Bee!  We are all very excited (in case you haven't guessed).

Because clicking buttons is fun...I will gratify your wants.
  • To see the reasons that we love the Bible Bee and our (current) favorite verses, click here for Joy, Delie, and Anna.
  • If you want to watch the FREE live webcasts of the semi-final and final challenge rounds--we'll let you know when we know if we qualify for either of these rounds--click here to sign up for any or all of the events.

P.S.  Sorry about the length, or lack thereof, of this post.  Packing and studying have taken precedence over blogging for the time being.  However, we plan, Lord willing, to blog daily so check back for updates Wednesday through Saturday.

My baby (by James)

It's me again, James (if by any remote chance my name happened to slip your brain).  Today I want to tell you about my baby.  Baby John is the most sweetest baby there everest was.  (Joy, who cares if that sentence is not grammatically correct?  Bring on the adjectives!)  He's only ten days old, but I can't imagine life without this little guy.  How did I spend my time before I was wrapped around his tiny fingers?  Oh, I remember.  Sleeping.  That must be it, because I sure don't remember any of it.

But you want to see more pictures of John, don't you?  Okay, here's one of all of us at the hospital.

The hospital was a lot of fun!  The floor makes a loud noise when you stomp on it and the couch has this really fun windowsill behind it, perfect for a hideout.  Plus, Mommy's bed had some really neat buttons.  My favorite one was the one that makes a nurse say, "Can I help you?".  (I found that one all by myself.  Am I the next Albert Einstein or what?  For some reason no one else was very thrilled at my discovery.)

As fun as the hospital was, I'm glad that we're all back together again.  I've missed Mommy and Daddy.

This is my baby. I love, love, LOVE him!  I wake up in the morning and ask for him, and at night I always have a big kiss especially for him, and during the day I fight with my siblings for who gets to hold him.  I remind them, "He's everybody's baby,"--but I conveniently forget that when they try to take him away from me.

He's my baby.

Was there ever any doubt?

An update from your favorite Moss

Hi there!  My name is James, but you can call me George, Samuel, Thomas, or William.  I'll answer to any of them--especially if you are saying something like, "Thomas, do you want to go outside?" or "Here's your brownie, George".

Today I wanted to take a break from my normal life of tasting cooking, feeding the farm animals, and playing with my brothers to tell you about my life as the baby of a family of ten.  Joy says that I should have done this post earlier, but I'm a procrastinator.  I thrive on deadlines.

So here it is :
dfhjuyvb24r879fvdfgvyo1oghggggg

Like it? I do too, but I have been informed that some people would like it better if I translated what it said.  So here is the version for those who are not learned in JJism:

I am excited that in five days I will no longer be the baby of a family of ten.  Instead, I am going to be the big brother of a family of eleven.  You read that right--on Thursday my little brother or sister will be born!!!  I've waited almost nine months, but I am not sure I can wait another second.  I check the crib sometimes...you know, just to see if the baby came and no one told me about it.

In case you haven't caught on yet, I 'll shout it out for all the world to hear.  (By the way, you may want to cover your ears, as deafness is a possible side effect of such delight.)  I AM EXCITED!!!!!

You can take your fingers out of your ears now.  I'll try to confine my joy to exclamation marks. Maybe.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe not.

I can't wait to hold my little sister Emily Margaret in my arms.  Or John Philip.  But I know that it's going to be a girl.  Many of my siblings think that the baby will be a boy, but they have guessed wrong in the past.  I never have.  Joy says I should tell you that I have never guessed before, either, but that strikes me as a rather unimportant detail.

So now I want to hear what you think.

  1. Is the baby a boy (because we have so many boys) or is it a girl (for the same reason as the former)?
  2. Are you excited?
I'll see you at the hospital on Thursday--only, I probably won't see you because I'll have eyes only for the buttons on the hospital bed and AN ADORABLE BUNDLE WRAPPED IN A BLANKET!!!

James
